Standards Association (SA)

As the world’s leading standards developer, IEEE is also a leading source of information and resources on standards, their applications, and their impact on designing new products, processes, and services.

Access to Standards

For students or individuals that do not have access to standards through their university, they can get a number of standards through the GET program, accessible free of charge.

Please visit

It seems that many students already have access but don’t know it. On our website we provide a link to a PDF containing a list of all schools with access to standards through their subscriptions. The list is not up-to-date, but will be in the near future.

Standards Education

The IEEE’s Standards Education Program continues to progress work supporting its goals of promoting the importance of standards in meeting technical, economic, environmental, and societal challenges; providing learning materials on the application of standards in the design and development aspects of educational programs; and actively promoting the integration of standards into academic programs.

For more information, please visit the Standards Education webpage.

The new IEEE Standards Education e-Magazine (eZine) is a free quarterly publication “for those who learn, teach, use, deploy, develop and enjoy Standards!” First published in September 2011, the eZine contains feature articles on standards and technology themes (like Smart Grid), articles from educators on standards in the curriculum, an area for our Best of Student Application Papers highlighting the use of standards in student projects, information about the standards development process and much more.

A new free web portal called TryStandards: Global Standards Education and Standards Search was developed to provide users with descriptions and access to all known credible programs and courses for education about standards at the university and post-university (continuing education) levels, and to also provide a search facility for all technical standards maintained by all recognized standardization bodies in IEEE’s fields of interest.
